When anyone dies before their expected time, it’s a sad and shocking event. The feelings of sadness and shock are amplified when it’s someone famous. You can’t help but wonder what might have been if they had not died. A few people would still be alive today if it weren’t for their fame and wealth, and their names would break your heart all over again.

1. Kobe Bryant

The retired Hall of Fame basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, who had both of his numbers retired by the franchise, was enjoying his post-retirement life, winning an Academy Award and coaching his daughter’s basketball team. On January 26, 2020, he and eight others, including one of his daughters, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, that stunned the world.

Another terrible accident that shook the world was the 1997 death of Princess Diana. She was newly divorced from Prince Charles and was coming into her own as a humanitarian. At the time of her death, she was one of the most photographed people in the world, and it was in a car chase to escape the paparazzi in Paris that she and two others died when their car crashed.

The little boy the country knew as “John-John” grew up to be a handsome young attorney who inherited his grace and good looks from his famous parents, President John F. and Jackie Kennedy. Unfortunately, he also inherited the Kenndy curse, which has claimed the lives of many in the dynastic family before their time. JFK Jr., his wife, and his sister-in-law lost their lives when the plane he was flying crashed into the ocean near Martha’s Vineyard.

Less than two months before the death of Princess Diana, famed fashion designed Gianni Versace was killed on the steps of his Miami Beach, Florida mansion. In addition to being known for his bold fashions, like the safety pin dress of Elizabeth Hurley, Versace was also known for his close friendships with stars like Elton John and Naomi Campbell.

With hit songs like “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Annie’s Song,” and “Thank God I’m a Country Boy,” John Denver dominated the music charts in the 1970s. He was a singer, songwriter, and humanitarian who supported various causes, including homelessness and the environment. Denver died in 1997 when the plane he was piloting crashed off the California coast.

Selena was on the verge of releasing her first English-language album and achieving crossover success when she was murdered by the manager of her boutiques and president of her fan club in March 1995.

Just weeks before his death, Lennon and Ono released his final album, Double Fantasy. On December 8, 1980, Lennon was shot to death in front of his apartment by a man who obtained an autograph from the singer earlier that day.
