10 Dreadful TV Shows Viewers Hoped Would Get Better, But Didn’t

What is the most dreadful TV show you have sat through hoping it would get better but didn’t? I’ll go first, Superstore. I’m sure it’s hilarious because so many insist it is, but I didn’t find the appeal. After someone asked the internet for their examples, these are the top-voted series.

1. Westworld (2016 – 2022)

One suggested, “Only from season two onwards. Season one was so good; the creators should have ended it there.” Another argued, “I think season one is a masterpiece. The writers had something to say, and they said it. Hate it when sequels are made with no plan; they start writing new episodes with no point.”

2.  Under The Dome

Under the Dome was beyond awful,” one suggested. “The idea was great, but it should have been a miniseries, not something to drag out.”

“My friend was an extra in Under the Dome. It was filmed here in North Carolina before they decided to go full stupid and destroy the film industry in North Carolina and forced them to move. My friend even got a couple of lines here and there. Unfortunately, it was the only reason we watched it: after the first season, the show started to drag and make no sense,” a second reported.

3.  The Walking Dead (2010 – 2022)

“I got through part of three different episodes,” one confessed. “I could not believe those characters were going to survive. I had a hard time believing they’d survived the zombie apocalypse. I didn’t care what happened to them, but I couldn’t stop watching. I wanted to like it. But it just infuriated me so much.”

4.  Riverdale (2017 – Present)

“I enjoyed season one of Riverdale. Still, it had its issues, but it had a likable cast and a cool mystery plot,” one said. “I thought they were going to maintain that.

But, boy, was I wrong. I sat through three more seasons, hoping it would return to what made the show tolerable. Instead, it felt like each episode was written in two days and filmed the next day. It was atrocious, and I can’t believe I did that to myself.”

5.  Blockbuster (2022)

“That new Blockbuster series, what was that? They could have easily capitalized on the 80s and 90s nostalgia by making a throwback show centered around a Blockbuster. Still, they decided to make just another generic sitcom,” one stated. “I was two episodes in, and I was like Randall Park, what are you doing, sir? You are capable of so much more.”

6.  Manifest (2018 – Present)

“It had an interesting concept that turned into religious and family drama and lost all pace,” one shared. “I find it difficult to stop watching shows once I’ve started and was so happy when Manifest got canceled, only for it to be picked up again. Sad times.”

7.  The Blacklist (2013 – 2023)

One Redditor explained, “The Blacklist started great and went downhill. I kept watching the series, hoping it would get great again. It didn’t.”

Another added, “It felt like it was going somewhere in the first few seasons. Then, it was like the series was building up to a big finale that would pull all the strands together. Then it just didn’t happen.”

8.  Revolution (2012 – 2014)

Revolution, the idea was alright. The actors were tolerable, but as the show progressed, the plot holes became so big I just gave up trying to comprehend and continued watching to get it over with,” shared one. “Another wonderful project brought to you (in part at least) by JJ Abram. I wanted it to be good, but it was just awful,”

9. Ginny and Georgia (2021 – Present)

“I don’t like Ginny or Georgia,” one elaborated. “Ginny is an entitled brat. Georgia is immature enough to have a catfight with her daughter. She is psycho enough to go to the extreme EVERY time her daughter faces difficulty. For example, trying to frame her teacher to get him fired.”

“This one hurt,” one confessed. “Season one was entertaining. Season two could have been dealt with in one or two episodes. I am still trying to figure out what it was about. I am so confused.”

“I was so incredibly disappointed in Picard! Season three is coming. I will continue to watch because I am faithful to the franchise, but I know all of my hopes and dreams will continue to be shattered,” a final user commented.
